Our theme for April is feel good productivity!
What is Feel Good Productivity?
Feel good productivity is about working WITH your energy, not against it. It's about creating systems that support your wellbeing while moving your business forward. Instead of forcing yourself into someone else's productivity system, feel good productivity invites you to discover what works for YOU.
10 Feel Good Productivity Tips
- Start with Your Energy Audit
Before diving into any productivity system, spend a week tracking your energy levels. When do you feel most creative? When does your brain feel foggy? When are you naturally motivated? Use this information to schedule your most important tasks during your peak energy hours.
- The 10-Minute Rule
Overwhelmed by big projects? Break them down into 10-minute chunks. Set a timer and commit to just 10 minutes. Small consistent actions create big results.
- Create Transition Rituals
Help your brain switch between tasks with mini rituals. Light a candle before deep work, make a cup of tea before calls, or do three deep breaths before checking emails. These micro-moments signal to your brain that it's time to focus.
- Batch Similar Tasks
Group similar activities together - all your social media content creation on Monday, all your client calls on Tuesday, all your admin on Friday. This reduces the mental energy lost in context switching and creates flow states.
- The Done List Celebration
Instead of just crossing items off your to-do list, keep a "done list" too. Write down everything you accomplish, including the small stuff like responding to emails or organising your desk. Celebrate these wins!
- Design Your Ideal Day
What would your perfect productive day look like? Morning yoga? Afternoon creative time? Evening family dinner? Design your schedule around what fills you up, not what drains you. Remember - you're the CEO of your life.
- The Power of the Pause
Before starting any task, take a moment to ask: "Is this the best use of my energy right now?" Sometimes the most productive thing you can do is rest, delegate, or say no to something that doesn't align with your goals.
- Create Joy Anchors
Sprinkle little moments of joy throughout your workday. A beautiful playlist, fresh flowers on your desk, your favourite mug for coffee, or a photo that makes you smile. These joy anchors keep your energy positive and sustainable.
- The Two-Minute Rule
When something takes less than 2 minutes, do it immediately rather than adding it to your to-do list. Reply to that text, file that document, or clean that coffee cup. This prevents small tasks from becoming overwhelming mental clutter.
- Weekly Reflection Ritual
Every week, spend 15 minutes reflecting on what worked, what didn't, and what you want to adjust. This isn't about judgment - it's about learning and evolving. Maybe you discovered that afternoon calls drain you, or that you're most creative after lunch. Use this information to optimise your following week.
